Grendon and Kesi

This is Grendon, he is my adopted brother. He doesn't live with us though, he lives in Borneo in a sanctuary where some lovely people look after him. His mummy was killed when he was a baby, so he needs help to learn all the skills required by an Orangutan in the rainforest. Grendon is a cheeky little chap, and is also a TV star! He has appeared in BBC's Orangutan Diary (Monkey Queen's fave programme!).

This is Kesi, my adopted sister, who lives at the sanctuary with Grendon. Her mummy was also killed, and poor Kesi has a bad injury - the people who killed her mum also cut off her hand as you can see in the photo, so she hasn't had the best start in life. However, this hasn't stopped her from becoming a champion tree climber and nest builder and she is a very feisty and independant little Orangutan lady, which is why MQ loves her so much!

The Orangutans need all the help they can get, as their forest homes are disappearing at an alarming rate, mainly to make way for Palm Oil plantations and timber logging concessions.

If you love red apes as much as we do, you can help by adopting your very own copper haired bundle of fun or making a donation at http://www.savetheorangutan.org.uk.
